Edwin Waugh's letters to his publisher
1888 to 1890
The Edwin Wuagh Dialect Society have been pleased to be able to purchase around 50 letters that Edwin Waugh wrote to his publisher from 1888 until just a few weeks before before he died in 1890.
We are looking to store the master copies in Touchstone Library Rochdale for their safe preservation.

13th March 1888 to 30th Dec 1888
8th January 1889 to 21st May 1889
7th June 1889 to 12th December 1889
9th January 1890 to. 1st March. 1890
The penultimate letter of this last batch dated Sunday eveming 13th April 1890 from a Mrs Moorhouse telling his publishert that Edwin was not very well.
The ultimate undated letter is from A Waugh telling his publisher that Mr Waugh had undergone on operation in Manchester and was progressing favourably!
Sadly, on 30th April 1890, Edwin Waugh died of cancer of the tongue at 8 pm at his home, 'The Hollies', in New Brighton.
